Algernon Cargill, Director
Mr. Cargill, holder of an MBA honors degree from the University of Miami, is widely recognized and respected for his excellent personal and professional qualities and steadfast community service. His personal dynamism and wide experience have fuelled the success of a career encompassing Strategic Management, Banking and Finance and Sales and Marketing, which have highlighted his tenure as Director of the National Insurance Board of The Bahamas (NIB), the country’s social security programme.
Before assuming the leadership of NIB in 2008, Mr Cargill spent twenty-three years with a large commercial bank, taking on international assignments in St. Lucia and Barbados where he rose to the rank of General Manager, Branch Banking. Further successes followed in his early career as his engagement with an international oil company extended his reach into the global marketplace; where he gained further recognition for excellence. He attained the rank of District Manager and Country Chairman, Chevron Puerto Rico LLC, with responsibility for sales, service, marketing, risk management and financial performance for a regional district comprising Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Antigua, St. Kitts, Dutch St Maarten and French St Martin, as well as Dominica and St Lucia.
As part of his community service, Mr. Cargill is President of The Bahamas Swimming Federation and Vice President of The Bahamas Olympic Association. Presently, he serves on the Board of Bank of The Bahamas and Commonwealth Brewery Ltd. Mr. Cargill has lectured at the College of The Bahamas, the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and Barbados and at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, St. Lucia, on such subjects as Strategic Management, International Business, Marketing Management, Personnel Management and Industrial Relations.
