Frank Watson, Director
Mr. Watson has had a distinguished public services career spanning a remarkable 44 years. He began his public career as an officer in the Customs Department reaching the post of Deputy Comptroller. In 1982, he began his 20-year span as a member of the House of Assembly serving the Carmichael Constituency for four Parliaments. For the last two of his four terms in the House of Assembly, Mr. Watson served as Deputy Prime Minister.
Over a period of 10 years as a member of the Cabinet, his portfolio included Public Works & Utilities, National Security, Tourism and Public Enterprise. During that time, he was responsible for the liberalization of the telecom sector in the Bahamas, the expansion of telephone services, housing, potable water supply, the national highway program, re-organization of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the rebranding of the Bahamas as a premier tourism destination.
