Philip Keeping, Chairman
Mr. Philip Keeping has been involved in the telecommunications industry for over 30 years, the last 15 of which he specialized in the Cable TV industry. Mr. Keeping started his career in the telecommunications group of transport Canada in the early 1970s, and was promoted to positions of ever-increasing responsibility until he resigned in 1986 to form N1 Cable TV Ltd. Using the latest available technology, N1 Cable TV’s first venture delivered high-quality TV services to 220 small rural communities in Newfoundland, Canada.
From 1988 to 1991, Mr. Keeping led N1 Cable TV in an aggressive acquisition and construction program in New Brunswick, Canada. During 1991, Mr. Keeping disposed of his interests in the Newfoundland systems of N1 Cable TV and formed Cable 2000 Inc. to concentrate on the development of the New Brunswick cable TV operations. From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Keeping used a strategy of new construction and acquisitions to become the second largest cable TV operator in New Brunswick. Using leading-edge technology, Mr. Keeping designed the integration, by means of a fiber-optic network, of Cable 2000’s Cable system sites in New Brunswick.
In August 1994, Mr. Keeping reached an agreement to sell his interests in Cable 2000 Inc. to Fundy Cable Ltd. During the years following this move Mr. Keeping aggressively sought out opportunities for the establishment and development of Cable TV systems in the Caribbean. The efforts were rewarded with the Government of the Bahamas granting an exclusive cable TV license to Cable Bahamas Ltd., a company established by Mr. Keeping in September 1994. Mr. Keeping served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cable Bahamas Ltd. for more than 10 years before moving on to pursue other business interests in Canada and south Florida.
In January of 2010, because of his very productive history with the company and the pending resignation of then Cable Bahamas Chairman Brendan Paddick, Mr. Keeping was asked to once again assume the position of Chairman of the Board of Cable Bahamas Ltd.
