Cable Bahamas' efforts to repair damaged facilities and other infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Joaquin are drawing closer to completion, Cable Bahamas Vice President of Marketing David Burrows announced.
As residents in south and central Bahamas work to rebuild their lives after the devastation caused by Hurricane Joaquin, Cable Bahamas has stepped in to offer some relief by suspending billing for cable television services on those islands through to January 2016. This offer from the company coincides with its ongoing restoration programme targeted at restoring its services on islands hit by the storm.
The Cellular Liberalization Task Force has announced that Cable Bahamas Ltd (CBL) is the successful applicant in the mobile spectrum auction. This means that CBL is the only bidder to advance to the final pre-conditions for licencing for the country's second mobile cellular network. This is a major accomplishment for the Bahamian company and CBL has expressed that it looks forward to completing these conditions as quickly as possible.

Cable Bahamas subscribers will get a new movie channel added to their Prime basic cable service starting October 15. The premium movie channel, Cinemax, will be added to channel 21 and channel 462 in the basic package. SyFy will be moving to Prime Select and a new premium movie package, FOX+, starts a two-week free preview on the same date.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Joaquin, Cable Bahamas Ltd has completed its assessments of the affected areas in the central and southern Bahamas and the company has commenced its restoration programme. The assessment reports indicate that there has been significant damage to aerial infrastructure, structural and water damage to the television transport facilities on both Long Island and San Salvador.
